My plenary speech on Nasrin Sotoudeh and the situation in Iran

A signal to our brave Iranians, the vibrant and diverse civil society: You have our full solidarity, our full attention, our full support as long as this will be needed.

This week I spoke about Nasrin Sotoudeh in Parliament.
The Iranian human rights lawyer uses the laws of her country to defend her clients against the regime.
She has been repeatedly put to trial and sentenced to prison for her activism. Nasrin Sotoudeh is currently in prison for representing women who removed their headscarves in public.

I admire Nasrin Sotoudeh, this unbreakable woman. The regime must know: If they continue their crackdown, they will become even more isolated and be subject to sanctions
