Every other day, a climate activist is murdered. In the United Arab Emirates, dozens of human rights defenders are still in prison, even after they have served their sentences. And it’s in the UAE where COP 28 will take place this year.
If we want to save the climate, fossil fuels must stay in the ground. That is why we need the Gulf states on the team “climate protection”. At the same time, however, we must also clearly address human rights violations, time and again.
