For years, we as Greens have been putting forward proposals at the European level on how Europe can become more united and independent in its defence. The new report on flagship projects designed to close our biggest capability gaps is another step in that direction. Now it is up to the member states to act.
At the end of January, I had the opportunity to travel to Syria—a country at a crossroads. After more than a decade of war and repression, Syria is entering a new phase, one filled with both hope and uncertainty. The decisions made in the coming months will determine whether the country moves toward democratic governance and stability or falls into another cycle of conflict and economic collapse.
Crises like cyberattacks, pandemics, and wars have become the new normal. Yet, the EU still lacks a sufficient and unified response. A debate initiated by the "Niinistö Report."
