Hannah Neumann

Hannah Neumann is the peace and human rights spokesperson of "The Greens/European Free Alliance (EFA)" group, Vice-Chair of the Human Rights Committee (DROI), DROI coordinator for the group, member of the Committee on Security and Defence Policy (SEDE) and the Committee of inquiry to investigate the use of Pegasus and equivalent surveillance spyware (PEGA), substitute in the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) as well as head of the delegation for relations with the Arabian Peninsula. At the German Green party, she is also a member of the motions committee.

Hannah Neumann studied media sciences and peace and conflict studies, which is also the subject she chose for her PhD. Her academic career brought her to Ilmenau, Berlin, Manila and Monrovia. Before joining the European Parliament, she was a self-employed expert and consultant for peace projects, i.a. in projects for the United Nations, the Society for International Cooperation, the European Commission, the DGAP, GPPi and aid organizations. She advised ministries and non-governmental organizations on campaigns on anti-discrimination, promotion of democracy, climate protection on the local level and human rights. From 2013 until 2016, she worked as policy advisor in the German Bundestag.


Hannah Neumann, geboren am 03. April 1984 in Speyer, verheiratet, mit drei Kindern, ist Europaabgeordnete für die Fraktion der Grünen/EFA.

  • 2013 – 2016: Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin und Büroleiterin von Tom Koenigs (MdB, Die Grünen, Sprecher für Menschenrechte) und Omid Nouripour (MdB, Die Grünen, Sprecher für Außenpolitik) im Deutschen Bundestag.

  • 2008 – 2013: Promotion in Politik und Friedens- und Konfliktforschung, Freie Universität Berlin in Zusammenarbeit mit der Universität von Liberia und der Notre-Dame-Universität Cotabato (Philippinen)

  • 2009 – 2011: Projektleiterin Forschungsprojekt „Peacebuilding als Suche nach dem, was ist“, Universität Oldenburg, Universität Liberia, Universität Cotobato

  • 2008 – 2012: Masterstudium Politikwissenschaft mit Schwerpunkt Internationale Beziehungen

  • 2005 – 2013: Freiberufliche Beraterin, Autorin, Dozentin für World Vision, EC, GiZ

  • 2002 – 2007: Diplomstudium Angewandte Medienwissenschaften, Technische Universität Ilmenau
