Ambassador Mara Marinaki has achieved so much for equality as the first principal adviser on gender and “Women, Peace and Security” of the EU/EEAS. Yet at the end of her term, her post was left vacant. Me and my colleague Ernest Urtasun raised the issue with the EU’s Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell in an open letter – successfully! The procedure for her replacement has now been launched.
