Today we voted on a resolution on EU action to combat the COVID19 pandemic.
We are not in Strasbourg – so I did not have the opportunity to speak in plenary. That is why I gave an “online” plenary speech!
It’s true: This resolution tries to give a common European answer to the crisis.
But – our solidarity must not end at the EU external borders!
- Corona is used by many authoritarian regimes to suppress human rights
- Social distancing and even simple hygienic measures are simply not possible in many countries outside Europe
I am therefore convinced a global crisis needs a global answer!
